We arrived at Arthurs Pass and we got settled in. I had in my bunkroom Conner, Ben Dyson, David, Angus, Brodie, and Matthew. I thought the bunkrooms were fun to stay in. It was like having a sleepover with all your classmates!
- Charlie
The hospitality on camp was amazing and the rooms were very comfortable. It felt like I had the comforts of my own home.
-David Edh
On Tuesday we did river-crossing in four degree water with our clothes on. After the rapids I did the deep water challenge. I was petrified when I clambered out.
-Rosie
“Ewww, Yuck! What is it? The rope’s all sticky,” I think to myself as I go up and down the ditches remembering to watch my footing.
-Rebekah Clark
The keas were high in the trees or on the roofs of the cabins. My favourite thing about the keas was the noise they made. Also I liked the red feathers underneath.
-Emma Cherry
On the way back from the all day tramp, some of us ran back to the lodge along the forest track. It was tiring.
-Ben Dyson
On the last day of camp we did orienteering. In my team was Mrs. Soper, Hannah, KJ, Matthew and myself. We were called Team Soper. We had to look for pegs. We won. I felt proud of my team.
-Grace
It was a long fun walk up, down and around the corners. When we stopped I got out my drink bottle and took a big gulp and swallowed.
-Margaret
It was the final day at camp. We had to go to the train station. The train arrived late. The train was red and the carriages were white. When it started moving we played games. The train ran smoothly.
-Braden Lucas.
The train ride was smooth and silent without a single sound, with jumping rocks on the side of the tracks and squeaky brakes trying to stop. I liked going through tunnels with the darkness on my face, with lights on and with a little bit of wind on the platform. I really enjoyed it.
- Ben M
When we arrived at shelter building we were given one tarpaulin and four ropes. One problem was that we didn’t have a roof, but we made it wind proof.
- Kyran Hodder
At the Arthurs Pass camp we did an activity called the sensory trail. I was in the first group to do the sensory trail. It’s where you do an obstacle course blindfolded. It is awesome!!
-Jaden Meynell
In shelter building we had to make wind and rain proof huts out of wood, four pieces of rope and a tarpaulin, in thirty minutes. In my group I had Connor, Josh and Charlie.
-Angus Jensen
I was on the top bunk which was two bunks high. We were in bunkroom 4. From our bunk room we could hear the keas.
-Hannah
We did river crossing at camp. It was rushing and so cold! We would go in groups of 4. It was really fun.
-Jelia
My favourite part was the Bealey Valley Tramp. The new things that I learned were butter cups, underground rivers and the Arthur Dobson Memorial
-KJ
When we started to walk it was hard because we had to go straight down the stairs and back up. It was hard on my legs
-Connor
We went to the Punchbowl Falls. It is a big waterfall. We went to a platform to see it. It was beautiful!!
-Jade
The keas were amazing! They were green and red. One came and landed right on the top of a tree in front of everyone!
-Michaela
On Thursday we went on an all-day tramp. After we had finished some people got to go for a run from Jacks Hut back to the lodge. I absolutely loved it.
-Emily
The Bealey Valley tramp was so much fun. I felt happy. We had a drink from the river. I liked the fresh taste of the river
-Szhyiem
Dave our camp guide for Arthurs Pass was really cool. He taught us all sorts of interesting things. Dave taught us orienteering and map reading. It was fun.
-Charlotte
After the Bealey Valley tramp we ran back. Mr. Paul was the leader. I really enjoyed it. It was fun because it was muddy and slippery, plus wet.
-Brodie
The train ride was really fun. We went through 15 or so tunnels. We went to the viewing platform. The viewing platform was really windy.
-Carly
On the first day at Arthurs Pass camp we went on a walk to the Punchbowl Falls. On the way we had to cross two bridges. The second bridge was high above the rapids below. Once we finally reached Punchbowl falls. It looked like it fell from a long way.
-Rhys
At the Arthurs Pass camp we went to the Bealey River. When we had to cross the river I fell over but Brodie helped me up. When Charlie and I went I got really cold but I kept going until the end.
-Josh
